A number of high-profile Bahraini politicians have reportedly met with insurgents fighting against the government of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
Pictures have surfaced on Twitter.com showing former second deputy parliament speaker and a member of “Islamic Authenticity Assembly,” Adel al-Moawada, and the head of Islamic Authenticity bloc MP Abdul-Halim Morad.
Also present at the meeting were two other members from the Sunni bloc, named Hamad al-Mohannadi and Faisal al-Ghorayr.
The four are pictured with members of an armed group calling itself the Free Syrian Army.
What you see in the picture is a Bahraini delegation to Syria, to deliver the Bahraini people’s aid to the fighters of the (so called) Free Syrian Army and to three field hospitals belonging to them, Murad wrote on his Twitter page.
On Monday, the so-called Syrian National Council—an umbrella insurgent group in Syria—admitted that it receives weapons from countries including Saudi Arabia and Qatar.
