Car bomb goes off near Syria Ministry of Information
According to Syrian TV, the explosion in Mezzeh district of the capital on Friday only caused material damage.
Several cars were destroyed by the blast and windows in nearby buildings had also been blown out.
It was the second bomb attack in Damascus in a day. Earlier, at least five security personnel were killed in a bomb blast outside a mosque in Damascus’ Ruknuddin district.
The bomb went off as worshippers left the mosque following the Friday Prayets.
There are also reports of clashes between government forces and insurgents in Damascus’ southern districts of Daf al-Shouk and Tadamon.
Meanwhile, the Syrian army has said that it has killed two insurgent leaders in a suburb of the northwestern city of Idlib.
Syria has been experiencing unrest since March 2011. Damascus says outlaws, saboteurs, and insurgents are behind the unrest, while the opposition accuses the security forces of killing protesters.
The Syrian government says that the chaos is being orchestrated from outside the country, and there are reports that a very large number of the armed militants are foreign nationals
