Three students injured in high school blast in south eastern Turkey
The blast occurred on Wednesday, after a home-made bomb planted in the school’s third floor went off in the city of Cizre, local media said.
The injured students were immediately transferred to a nearby hospital for treatment. Local police launched an investigation into the incident.
The motive behind the attack remains unknown and no group has yet claimed responsibility for the incident.
On Monday, Turkish security forces killed ten members of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) during operations in the southeastern province of Diyarbakir.
The Turkish troops, backed by military aircraft, launched an operation against a group of PKK members near the town of Lice, seizing a large amount of munitions, including assault rifles.
The PKK has been fighting for an autonomous Kurdish region inside Turkey since the 1980s. The conflict has left tens of thousands of people dead.
