An interview was just broadcasted on Duniya News’s program “Yaqeen” of the famous Shiite Leader and politician Faisal Raza Abidi where he was asked questions regarding the country-wide sit-ins a week ago.

Faisal Raza Abidi said, “Government Officials told me to go to the main sit-in in Quetta and hold dialogues with the people regarding their demands because they thought the people would listen to me. I refused to go, saying only the decision made by the people will be acceptable.” Abidi, on the previous question, referring to Shaheed Askari Raza’s dharna outside the Governor House, said, “The people went home on my word. But the Government did not care to keep my word. This is why I refused to be used for the Quetta Dharna. The Party revoked my membership.”

He aggresively added, “If I had wished, I could have gone to any of the sit-ins, it was not difficult for me because the people in the sit-ins like me. But I didn’t take part in any of the sit-ins for 3 days because for the first time I was seeing the people become a nation and I didn’t want to be involved in any of the issues [and turn it political].”
He further added, “People tell me that I’m all talk. I want to say, try naming the terrorists [in Pakistan]. I am on the hit-list of the banned organizations [Sipah-e-Sahaba] but whenever I speak, I do not generalize.”
During the interview, he was seen to be angry as he said, “I get taunted for being a Shia but the sad part is that my Mulla, Molvi or Mufti have not even spent 5ruppees on a sticker in my favour.”
Faisal Raza Abidi, at the start of the interview, presented his condolences to the families of that martyrs of the Alamdar Road blasts and MPA Manzoor Imam, who was shot dead this morning.
A new argument and new discussions have started on Abidi’s claim that “the government wanted to use him for manipulating the people”. Analysts are currently silent on the matter though Civil Society has deeply critisized the government.
It is worth mentioning that the Shiakilling.com Facebook page posted that the Government might use Faisal Raza Abidi to manipulate the Sit-ins but it was initially denied by Abidi himself. Today, however, in the interview, the same Abidi was seen confirming this news.
