MWM criticizes Commissioner Karachi for delay in payment of compensation
Majlis-e-Wahdat-e-Muslimeen has criticized the Commissioner and Additional Commissioner of Karachi and Deputy Commissioner Malir for delay in payment of compensatory amounts to the remaining injured and heirs of the martyrs of Abbas Town Tragedy.
“Not a single heir of the martyrs has been paid compensatory amounts despite the tall claim of the Commissioner at a news conference that the payment will be made within two or three days,” said Allama Sadiq Raza Taqvi, secretary general of the MWM Karachi chapter speaking at a press conference at Karachi Press Club on Wednesday.
Allama Abu Zar Mehdavi, central leader of the MWM, Abdullah Mutehri, provincial chapter’s Political Secretary, Maulana Haider Abbas, Maulana Ali Afzaal, Maulana Mohammad Hussain Karimi and Asghar Zaidi of MWM Karachi chapter were also present.
The MWM officials denounced the Commissioner and additional commissioner Karachi and deputy commissioner Malir for failure in payment of the compensation despite passage of 10 days.
“Instead of hastening the work on immediate payment, these corrupt officials have started threatening the members of the MWM because they are coordinating efforts for the immediate payment,” said Mr. Taqvi. It is relevant to note that the MWM’s representatives have been included in the committee constituted by the chief minister Sindh Qaim Ali Shah for payment of the compensation.
He further said that the Commissioner and the two other officials who are infamous for their malpractices in the administration are least interested in the payment of compensation and their attitude to the injured and heirs of the martyrs of Abbas Town Tragedy was also impolite.
Allama Taqvi and said officials of the MWM made clear that if anything happens to the MWM’s members, the Commissioner Karachi, Assistant Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner Malir would be held responsible for that.
The MWM leaders demanded of the Sindh Chief Minister to take notice of delaying tactics, misbehavior and corruption.
They said that Chief Minister has announced Rs.1 million to injured and Rs.1.5 million to the heirs of the martyrs but the Commissioner and the two officials were trying to pay less than the announced compensation to the inured and there are reports that they are trying to show some deceased as injured so that Rs 500,000 for each deceased’s compensation could be siphoned off to their pockets.
The MWM officials warned that legal action would also be taken against these corrupt and incompetent officials of Karachi administration if they do any corruption in the process of payment of the compensatory amounts.
