Pakistan Calls For Boosting Ties With Iran
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Prime Minister-in-waiting Nawaz Sharif on Saturday called for boosting ties with the Islamic Republic of Iran in all areas
He made the remarks in a meeting with Iranˈs Ambassador to Pakistan, Alireza Haqiqian in Lahore on Saturday.
Nawaz is expected to be the next prime minister of Pakistan after his party emerged as victorious in the May 11 elections. PML-N managed to win 125 out of total 272 National Assembly seats.
During the meeting, the two diplomats exchanged views over bilateral relations, regional situation and other issues of mutual interest.
Sharif said Iran is a very close friend of Pakistan, adding that cooperation between the two countries must be enhanced further.
The Iranian envoy congratulated Sharif on the victory of his party in May 11 general election.
