An explosion has hit a bus carrying Yemeni air force personnel to their base in the capital Sana’a, killing six military staff and leaving 26 injured.

The attack was reportedly carried out on the road leading to Sana’a International Airport on Sunday.

“The bomb exploded in the rear part of the bus and six of our colleagues were immediately killed,” said Ameen Saree, an air force officer. “The rest have been injured and are being treated in hospitals.”

Witnesses said bodies were scattered and blood could be seen on the roadway next to the wreckage of the bus.

No group or individual has claimed responsibility for the bombing.

In May 2012, a bomber in an army uniform blew himself up and killed more than 90 soldiers rehearsing for a parade in Sana’a.
