“Awakening of Nation and Stability of Pakistan Conference,” in Skardu brought Sunni and Shia Muslims together and they vowed united struggle for full rights of people of Gilgit-Baltistan.

Majlis-e-Wahdat-e- Muslimeen hosted the conference that was the largest- attended public meeting in the history of Gilgit-Baltistan. Sunni Bralevis, Deobandis and Ahl-e-Hadees too joined Shia Muslims’ public meeting for the first time in the history of the region.

Earlier, they had joined hands on a common platform for common agenda: restoration of wheat subsidy under the banner of Awami Action Committee.

Allama Raja Nasir Abbas Jafari, secretary general of the MWM, has asserted that he would go door to door in all over Pakistan to rally mass support for the full rights Constitutional rights of Gilgit-Baltistan.

“Gilgit-Baltistan demonstrated unity and came out on streets for 12 days and they brought the usurpers of their rights to knees. Should people of Pakistan form similar united front, they too will get all their legitimate rights like people of Gilgit-Baltistan did,” he compared.

The MWM top official said that Sunni and Shia Muslims are brothers and nobody could create gulf between them. He said that Sunni Muslims were aware of the fact that Arab monarchs are disloyal to Islam and Muslims. He said that takfiri elements were enemies of Islam and Muslims and they were involved in genocide against Shia Muslims.

“We shall observe May 13 as a day of protest against Shia genocide in Karachi. We appeal to all like-minded people to join the protest. Rallies will be staged in all over Pakistan to vent anger against the government’s inaction,” he announced.

Sunni Ittehad Council’s Sahibzada Hussain Raza Minhaj ul Quran’s Farhat Abbas Shah Ahl-e-Hadees scholar Hafiz Bilal Zuberi, PMLQ’s Zafar Ralay, MWM’s Allama Amin Shaheedi, Allama Hasan Zafar Naqvi and MWM’s Balochistan MPA Agha Syed Mohammad Raza also spoke. They lashed out at the corrupt rulers and their obsolete system that plagued Pakistan. They demanded a transparent system and honest and efficient rulers to drive Pakistan out of prevailing crisis.
