Baghdad goes on alert against ISIL
The Iraqi military is reportedly building fortifications near the capital, Baghdad, to repel potential attacks by ISIL Takfiri terrorists.

Construction of the fortifications reportedly began on Sunday in northeastern suburbs of Baghdad.

Reports say Iraq plans to set up two-meter high fortifications near the town of al-Azim, some 100 kilometers northeast of Baghdad.

Earlier reports said that the Iraqi army has built a barricade around parts of Diyala Province to prevent Takfiri militants infiltration into the area.

Local officials said the barricade was set up by the army in areas close to the town of Adeim.

The crisis in Iraq escalated after ISIL terrorists took control of the city of Mosul, in a lightning advance on June 10.

An estimated 1.2 million people have been displaced in Iraq so far this year, according to estimates by the United Nations.

The ISIL terrorists have vowed to continue their raid towards Baghdad. Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki has said that the country’s security forces would confront the terrorists. He also said Washington’s regional allies Saudi Arabia and Qatar are responsible for the security crisis and growing terrorism in his country.
