According to reliable sources the Punjab government has released 112 activists of banned Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (LeJ) and Sipah-e-Sahaba Pakistan (SSP) during past few weeks. These activists had been arrested by former Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif led government from across the province after the deadly incidents in Quetta, targeting minority Hazara community.

The operation had been launched after strong calls for crackdown against Punjab based militants from federal government and civil society. The incumbent Chief Minister Najam Sethi was also a very strong proponent of the crackdown.

The former Punjab government had arrested 152 religious activists linked with the banned outfits under section three of the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) after joint raids by intelligence agencies in different districts of the province including Bahawalpur, Chiniot, Multan, Rahimyar Khan, Rajanpur, Bahawalnagar and DG Khan.

However, according to sources, out of 152 suspects, only 40 still remain under detention. Sources said 56 detainees were freed by the current government on the orders of courts while 43 had been released by home department after internal hearings.

District Coordination Officers (DCOs) released 2 suspects while 11 had been released on the expiry of their confinement date.While contacted a spokesman of the Punjab government confirmed the release of detainees adding that there was no ill intentions involved in the release of these suspects.

“Under MPO, maximum period of detention is 90 days so we could not keep them detained legally after the expiry of this period,” Amjad Hussain, spokesman of the Punjab government said.He said some of the detainees had been released on the orders of courts while rest completed their detention period.

Abbas Haider son of Riaz Haider was selling newspapers in Gulbahar district central of Karachi when he was targeted. The terrorists opened fire upon him leaving his shot martyred near Liaquat Chowk. The body was taken to hospital for autopsy.

The victim was 45 years old and was a resident of Jafaria Colony, Gulbahar/ Golimar.

Police depicted Babar Hussain with the alias Chingari and claimed that he was also involved in attack on Allama Baqar Zaidi of Jafaria Alliance. Allama’s guard was killed in the attack and he was wounded near Irum Bakery Liaquatabad.

SS Central claimed that Bababr Hussain was involved in the murder of Mukhtiar, a Shia police cop of Gulbahar Police.

Shia parties and leaders have condemned the police for implicating Babar Hussain in false cases.

“We’ll fight this war for the sake of oppressed and disadvantaged people of Pakistan,” Allama Jafari pledged speaking at a dinner reception hosted in the honour of the MWM’s nominated candidates.

He said that the United States and Saudi Arabia had manipulated the elections and they got desired results. He said that election commission failed to foil foreign plots and mandate of the Pakistani nation was hijacked.

“Pakistani nation largely turned out and voted to bring in a positive and durable change but their dreams come untrue. Election commission, caretakers, security and intelligence agencies are responsible for stealing of their votes,” he said.

Allama Jafari said that results of the MWM’s electoral contestants from Sindh and Punjab were not announced for three days that proved the partiality and bias of the election commission.

He said that hereditary system of politics and musical chair game like government system is witnessed in Pakistan. He also warned the Karachi-based mafia to stop harassing and intimidating MWM’s officials, workers and sympathizers. They said that negative tactics are not tolerable. He appreciated those polling agents and in particular the women who bravely did their duties defying the threats and harassment tactics in Karachi.

Allama Hassan Zafar Naqvi, Allama Mukhtar Imami, Allama Hassan Salahuddin, Allama Sadiq Raza Taqvi and Allama Deedar Jalbani also spoke while Allama Ali Bux Sajjadi, Allama Ali Anwar, Allama Naqi Hashmi and thousands of the workers attended the reception.

Shaikh Akram trounced takfiri nasbi terrorist head of outlawed Sipah-e-Sahaba M Ahmed Ludhianvi.

Shaikh Waqas said that the fanatic moulvi tried to influence the judges by staging sits-in after electoral manipulation but he failed and thank God his father won the election due to Shia-Sunni unity in the constituency. He assured that he would remain touch with all those who backed Shaikhs in the elections. Nasir Shirazi also congratulated him over election of his father as Member of National Assembly.

Meanwhile, Nasir Abbas Shirazi, secretary political affairs of the MWM, called Dr. Arif Alavi, a leader of Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf and condoled with him over the murder of Zahra Shahid, a PTI woman leader from Karachi.

“God willing, Karachi will soon be liberated from the target killers and the oppressors and usurpers of the rights of people,” he expressed hope. He also felicitated him over his election as MNA from NA-250.

Allama Arif Hussain Wahidi, secretary general of the Shia Ulema Council, said that the efforts to establish peace in the country should begin from Karachi. He said that the target killers rule Karachi and writ of the government has failed to stop targeted murders of Karachi’ites.

He condemned the targeted murder of Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf’s leader Zahra Shahid and said that people of Karachi are being harassed through targeted murders, threats and kidnapping.

“Peace in Karachi is tantamount to peace in whole of Pakistan and destroying peace of commercial capital of Pakistan poses serious threat to the economy of Pakistan,” he said.

He said that if the government establishes peace in Karachi, peace in Pakistan will be established automatically

“These three issues need to be resolved forthwith and the new government needs to focus to sort out these burning problems,” he said here.

He said that in sweltering hot season, the citizens of Pakistan are denied uninterrupted supply of electricity that aggravates the condition of living for them. He said that economic crisis was deepening due to energy crisis.

He said that price-hike, energy crisis and terrorism are three big challenges for the new government. He asked the new government not to waste time and pay attention for immediate solution to these problems.
